Town of Hilton Head Island Receives Connected Certification

Tuesday, December 16 marked the day Connect South Carolina recognized and celebrated the Town of Hilton Head Island as the fourth Certified Connected Community in the state, and the 35th Connected community in the country! The community’s certification celebration was held in the council chambers of the Town of Hilton Head Island with nearly 40 attendees, including the mayor, town and county council members, members of the Information Technology Task Force, and local, regional, and state broadband and technology stakeholders. FCC Increases Broadband Speed Target

Yesterday, the FCC voted to increase the national broadband availability target from 4 Mbps down/1 Mbps up to 10 Mbps down/1 Mbps up fixed.
